Some may think that coming from a small town in Southeastern Indiana would shelter a girl, but I can assure you that in Emily's case, it has not. Her imagination and need to create has been the driving force for carrying her to more distant places. At a young age, Emily spent the summer at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY studying design. Before graduating from the Henry Radford Hope School of Fine arts at Indiana University, Emily had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Being immersed in such rich, abundant culture propelled Emily to spend three summers in Florence, Italy to assist Melanie Secciani, at La Arte della Torta with creating designer wedding cakes for destination weddings throughout Tuscany. The thrill to generate something on paper and transform it into a 3D piece of art in a short amount of time illuminated Emily's mind to create more jaw-dropping edible creations.
Currently, Emily is a cake decorator at Chic Sugars where "sculpting and painting are strengths" which yields positive results among clients. During her down time, Emily loves to try aerial tricks after launching off high jumps during her snowboarding excursions as well as frequenting adventurous, beautiful trails to hike. Emily states "I love seeing it things from different perspectives; seeing it from a different angle opens up a whole new world in my eyes."
